When several young boys are brutally murdered in a small southern Italian village, the superstitious locals react with ignorance and violence. All misfits are immediately suspected, such as big-city tart Barbara Bouchet, the local village idiot, and voodoo practitioner Florinda Bolkan, who is brutally murdered by the villagers in a startling and powerful scene. Cop Tomas Milian (Almost Human, Amistad) comes to investigate, and is rather curious about a young priest who censors the town's reading material to keep it free of corruption. The peculiar clergyman seems to envy the dead boys, who will never grow up to be corrupted. Interessante thriller italiano poiché si discosta da tutti gli altri esempi di quegli anni: la parte erotica è limitata ad una sola scena per la quale il film fu processato la Bouchet compare nuda di fronte a un bambino), ma poi assolto perché si scoprì che era un nano maggiorenne, e quella che viene descritta è una realtà tipica dell’Italia del Sud, cioè una comunità in cui vigono ancora tradizioni arcaiche come la superstizione e la iettatura e nella quale si respira un’aria mista di sacro e profano. Quello che più affascina è l’inusuale messinscena di immagini di un romanticismo nero e disperato: se Fulci è stato, esageratamente, soprannominato "il poeta della morte", il merito va tutto a questo film e basta vedere la scena dell’uccisione della Bolkan (ritmata dalle note di Quei giorni insieme a te cantata da Ornella Vanoni) e quella finale della morte del maniaco per rendersene conto. Two Austrian sisters Dagmar and Ursula Beyne go on holiday along the Amalfi coast in Italy, in the hope of finding their mother, who deserted them when they were young, they have recently inherited some money after the death of their father and want to share some of it with their mother. Ursula is quite a fragile girl though and on medication ever since the loss of her father. She also is somewhat telepathic and can foresee bad events in an instant. They book into a local hotel where Ursula's visions continue, she tells Dagmar her sister to stay clear of Filippo, a man who hangs out in the hotel bar as she says he will cause her death. Filippo is a heroin addict whose lover "Stella Shining" is the night club singer at the hotel, but that relationship is soon in trouble and Filippo makes his move on Dagmar. Meanwhile a masked and leather gloved man hires a local hooker, he wants to be a voyeur while she makes love to another man, she agrees and he hides behind the curtains in her room to watch the proceedings. When the deed is done the stranger savagely kills the hooker. Ursula wakes from her sleep with a scream, as she has felt that something bad has happened, she pleads with Dagmar that they should leave this place before its too late, but they disagree and stay. A young amorous teenage couple are turned away from the hotel and make their bed in a deserted part of the hotel, mid coitus they are interrupted by the killer, who slashes the boys throat before doing heinous acts on the girl. The shocking murders continue in abundance as the frantic search for the killer continues... The Italian giallo eventually suffered a lingering, painful death, merging with the inferior American slasher movies in the 1980's and the vastly inferior American "erotic thrillers" in the 1990's (with which today it is virtually indistinguishable). It was clear though that the rot had set in as early as the late 70's with films like "Play Motel" or this one where the sex and nudity that had always been used to season the genre seemed to become its very reason for being... Giallo extremadamente erótico y macabro sobre dos hermanas austríacas, Dagmar y Ursula Beyne, que se van a la costa italiana de vacaciones con la intención de encontrar a su madre que desapareció cuando eran jóvenes. Acaban de heredar de su padre y quieren compartir el dinero con su madre. Ursula es una joven frágil y que se medica desde la muerte de su padre. Tiene una especie de telepatía que puede ver las cosas malas que pasan. Se alojan en un hotel local donde las visiones de Ursula continúan. Una serie de extraños asesinatos ocurren en el hotel y sus alrededores cometidos por alguien enmascarado y con guantes negros y de tendencias voyeur, ya que todos sus crimenes se cometen tras el acto sexual de sus victimas…Con todos los clichés del giallo más el añadido de elevadisimas dosis de desnudos y sexo, además de una trama macabra hacen que sea una muy entretenida peli, de bonita foografía, que puede satisfacer tanto a los que les guste el giallo como el eurotrash más enfermo, como por ejemplo títulos del estilo de Giallo a Venezia o Play Motel. Dr. Stephens runs a secluded sanitarium with a small group of mental patients, one of whom uses the ax that was supposed to be for therapeutic wood-chopping to cut down Dr. Stephens. Now, Dr. Masters is running the asylum alone with her brand-new nurse, who does her best to befriend the eclectic group of patients: the shell-shocked ex-sergeant; the lobotomized Popsicle-sucking child-man; the puritanical former judge; the doom-dealing old woman; the would-be mother to a baby doll; the giggling, clown-haired prankster; the needy nymphomaniac; and the mainly catatonic young woman who occasionally indulges in knife attacks. The pretty young nurse was eager to work with the forward-thinking Dr. Stephens, but finds his successor to be less than welcoming and the hospital to be less than wholesome...
Где-то за городом находится небольшая экспериментальная клиника, где пациентам разрешено не прятать свои фантазии и психозы, а рекомендуется, наоборот, выпячивать их. Одна пациентка нянчится с куклой, другой пациент ходит в военной форме... С врачами у них отношения "на равных", особенно с главным врачом, который и придумал всё это. Но однажды такая терапия приводит к тому, что один пациент убивает врача. На его место приходит работать молодая девушка, которой приходится знакомиться с пациентами... Персонажи совершенно запредельные, их актёрская игра убивает в хорошем смысле. Любители фильмов про психиатрические клиники не должны пропускать этот замечательный фильм. Не смотря на то, что он условно проходит во ведомству "ужасов", это всё же ироничный и местами крайне смешной фильм про психушку, к финалу перерастающий в триллер. Может понравиться и любителям ужасов, и ценителям "артхауса"... |
